National Academy for Childhood Development

Brief about the Academy

National academy for childhood development was established in 2023 as a public institution under Law No. 11 for 2023 by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi to drive the capability-building of practitioners and caregivers (including parents) focusing on early years and to foster the preservation and promotion of the Arabic language and the UAE national heritage. The Academy will launch with the unique offering of an 18-month Diploma in Childhood Care and Development. Most unique points are:

1. The program will provide learners with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to work effectively with children

2. The course content will draw on multidisciplinary research, contemporary practice and relevant legislation and policy, and will facilitate the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world experiences within families and other early childhood contexts

3. Learners will develop a critically reflective understanding of the diverse needs of children and their families, and a practical insight into creating an optimal environment for key aspects of learning, development and care in order to meet these needs, while at the same time developing a deeper understanding of the UAE heritage and culture

Goals

The Academy Diploma graduates will become skilled childhood development practitioners and will be able to support families in developing and supervising children in various settings, such as their homes, childcare centers, and nurseries. The Academy graduates will play a crucial role in:

1. Promoting awareness of children around the UAE national identity and heritage and Arabic language

2. Ensuring children’s safety, security and protection

3. Promoting children’s health and mental well-being

4. Providing development support to children

5. Supporting children with educational activities

6. Implementing and maintaining care routines

7. Supporting inclusive practices for all children

Eligibility

 

The selection process will be based on a series of interviews and evaluations. Including psychometric tests and language tests. Registration conditions:

Age: from 18 to 40 years old

Highschool Degree or above

Arabic proficiency and very good English communications skills

Experience and passion in dealing with kids professionally or within the family.

Note: All classes will be held on-site in the Academy, and it is during official working hours. (Online/Distance learning is not available)

Benefits

A full scholarship will be granted to Diploma program students. Additionally, students coming from abroad will be offered a flight ticket and temporary accommodation. All students will be granted student visa and monthly financial stipends contributing to covering accommodation, transportation, food, and medical insurance costs among others.

Diploma graduates must commit to 18 months of work within the Childhood Development sector in the United Arab Emirates following their graduation from the program.

The academy will equip students with skills that enables them to explore new job opportunities such as Childhood care practitioner, Nursery Aide, Live in/out caregiver, Home teacher, Professional assistants, and Entrepreneur in the Childhood Care and Development Field
